WordCamp Rajshahi 2026: Contributor Day Guide

Contributor Day on 2nd July, 2026, is one of the most exciting, collaborative parts of WordCamp Rajshahi 2026. Held at the prestigious Dept. of CSE, Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), this day is dedicated entirely to giving back to the open-source software that powers over 40% of the web.

ℹ️ Note: Contributor Day is free to join and optional, but separate registration is required to manage seating limits. You must hold a valid WordCamp Rajshahi ticket to attend.

What is Contributor Day?

Contributor Day is a hands-on, collaborative event where people of all skill levels (whether you are a seasoned backend developer, a creative designer, a native translator, or a complete beginner) join forces to make a meaningful impact on the WordPress ecosystem. There is a place for everyone, technical or non-technical.

Why You Should Join

  • 🤝 Connect with Peers: Meet core contributors, experienced table leads, and fellow WordPress enthusiasts from Bangladesh and beyond.
  • 📚 Learn by Doing: Get real mentorship and hands-on guidance. Volunteering is part of the learning process; you choose a task and learn as you go.
  • 🌍 See Tangible Impact: Many contributions made during the event are accepted directly into WordPress core, documentation, or global community projects.
  • ✨ Build Your Profile: Every translation, line of code, or documentation review you complete permanently highlights your profile on WordPress.org.

What You Can Do

Once you sit with a dedicated team, you will choose a small task and learn as you go. For example, you can dive into the PHP and JavaScript code that powers WordPress, help translate WordPress core, themes, and popular plugins into the Bangla script (বাংলা) to expand local web accessibility, review user handbooks, or help organize future local community events.

Your 5-Step Preparation Guide:

1. Stay Tuned for Signups

We are finalizing the registration process soon! To ensure you do not miss a spot, keep a close eye on our official news page and blog posts to get notified the second signup opens.

2. Set a Simple Goal

Arriving with 1 or 2 achievable personal milestones gives your day clear direction. For example: “I want to translate 15 strings of a plugin into Bangla,” or “I want to meet three local developers.” The focus is entirely on collaborative learning, not high-pressure output.

3. Prepare Your Accounts and Tools

A little bit of pre-event setup saves valuable time at the venue. Make sure you have your WordPress.org Profile active, join the global Make WordPress Slack channel, and ensure your GitHub Profile is ready if you plan to jump on core development or block editor tables.

4. Bring Your Laptop and Your Curiosity

Contributor Day is an active workshop, so don’t forget your laptop and charger! Bring all your questions along; our Table Leads are right there to help you seamlessly settle in.

5. Review Our Code of Conduct

We strictly maintain a respectful, inclusive, and professional environment. Be ready to collaborate, assist others with language barriers or disabilities, and follow zero-tolerance guidelines regarding discrimination or harassment.

“WordPress isn’t built by a hidden team in a back room. It is built by people just like you who show up ready to pitch in.”

We cannot wait to make history with you in the Silk City this July. Bring your energy, ready to contribute!
