Introducing Mangopuu: The Official Wapuu of WordCamp Rajshahi 2026!

Sweet, vibrant, and uniquely local—meet Mangopuu, the official mascot celebrating our historic first WordCamp in the Silk City!

The countdown to 2nd July is officially on, and the excitement in the air is palpable. As we prepare to make history with the first-ever WordCamp Rajshahi 2026 at the RUET campus, we are absolutely thrilled to introduce a very special member of our community.

Say hello to Mangopuu, the official mascot of WordCamp Rajshahi 2026!

Bright, full of life, and sweet to its core, Mangopuu is a perfect reflection of Rajshahi’s warmth, legendary hospitality, and thriving open-source community.

What is a Wapuu?

If WordCamp Rajshahi is your very first WordPress event, you might be wondering about this cheerful character. Wapuu is the official mascot of the global WordPress community.

Born in Japan back in 2009, Wapuu was created as a fun, open-source symbol to bring people together. Over the years, local WordPress communities worldwide have embraced the tradition of giving Wapuu a local twist. From mountain-scaling Wapuus in Nepal to the vibrant, rickshaw-art-inspired Dhakapuu from last year’s WordCamp Dhaka, each mascot tells the story of its home city.

For our historic gathering in the division of green and heritage, we knew our mascot had to represent the true soul of Rajshahi.

The Inspiration Behind Mangopuu

You cannot talk about Rajshahi without talking about its crown jewel. Rajshahi is globally celebrated as the Mango Capital of Bangladesh. The daily rhythm of our region, our seasonal heritage, and our cultural pride are deeply tied to the vast, green orchards that yield the finest Fazli, Himsagar, and Langra mangoes.

Mangopuu beautifully encapsulates this local identity:

  • The Golden Glow: Dressed in the rich, vibrant hues of a perfectly ripe Rajshahi mango, our mascot radiates warmth and positivity.
  • The Open-Source Spirit: Just like the local growers who nurture their orchards with care, our tech community is all about cultivation—cultivating knowledge, mentoring new talent, and building software that feeds the global web ecosystem.
  • A Symbol of Fresh Energy: Holding the WordPress logo proudly, Mangopuu represents the fresh, booming tech talent emerging right here from institutions like RUET and the wider Rajshahi division.

A Sweet Celebration of Culture & Community

More than just a cute graphic, Mangopuu belongs to all of us. It stands as a symbol of our collective hard work, breaking regional barriers to put Rajshahi firmly on the global WordPress map.

Whether you are joining us for the intense collaboration at Contributor Day inside the Department of CSE, or attending the main event tracks, Mangopuu is here to remind us that technology is at its best when it is deeply rooted in local community and identity.

Keep an eye out for Mangopuu across our official event merchandise, stickers, and banners around the RUET campus!
