As we gear up for the historic, first-ever WordCamp Rajshahi 2026, we are looking back at the incredible foundation laid by the WordPress Campus Connect Rajshahi 2025 campaigns. Held late last year across key educational institutions in the region, this landmark initiative brought together students, educators, and industry experts to champion open-source contribution right here in the Silk City.
What is WordPress Campus Connect?
WordPress Campus Connect is a global initiative built to introduce university students to the WordPress ecosystem. The goal is straightforward but powerful: close the gap between classroom theory and real-world tech careers by teaching students how to contribute to open source software, connect with professionals, and build sustainable careers in the global WordPress community.
It is not a lecture series. It is a hands-on, community-driven experience that meets students where they are, on their own campuses.
What Happened in Rajshahi?
The Campus Connect campaign in Rajshahi was held in partnership with Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), one of the most prominent engineering institutions in Bangladesh. The response from the student community went far beyond expectations.
Here is what made the Rajshahi campaign stand out:
Keynote Speakers and Career Guidance
Industry veterans came directly to campuses to share their personal journeys inside the WordPress ecosystem. From development and design to technical writing and product marketing, students got a clear and honest picture of what a career in open source actually looks like.
Hands-On Contribution Workshops
Students did not just attend sessions. They took action. Experienced mentors guided them through setting up their official WordPress.org profiles and submitting their very first contributions during the event itself. For many, it was the moment they stopped seeing WordPress as something they used and started seeing it as something they could build.
Student Clubs and Peer Networks
Campus Connect helped students connect with local WordPress student clubs, expanding their networks across campuses and opening doors to mentorship from both local contributors and the broader global community.
Recognition and Certificates
Every participant who completed workshops and contributed to the WordPress ecosystem received official participation certificates and digital badges, something tangible to carry forward into their academic and professional lives.

The 40 Campus Connect free ticket recipients are among them, carrying the same energy from those campus halls into the main event at RUET Auditorium Hall on 2nd and 3rd July.
Campus Connect was the foundation. WordCamp Rajshahi 2026 is where it all comes together.
